Local boat company pulls capsized kayaker out of lake

A local boat company has come to the rescue of a kayaker in trouble on Lake Rotorua.

A police spokeswoman said they received reports that a kayaker had topped and their vessel was upside down about 10.34am.

Coastguard was notified however she said a local boat company pulled the kayaker out of the water and were heading back to shore.

Rotorua Lakes Coastguard Jeremy Doorman said a jet boat was notified by police and had picked up the victim as they were already on the water.
