A person has been arrested in relation to an alleged firearm sighting in Murupara.

Police and the Armed Offenders Squad were called to Matai Rd about 11.25am yesterday after someone saw a person allegedly with a gun.

A police spokeswoman said firearms and cannabis were recovered.

She said a person was charged and later released on bail.

There was no information on court dates at this stage.
