An "unknown person" was in the house of a Rotorua resident this morning.

Police were called at 6.07am to a report of an unknown person in a house on Bennett Rd.

A police media spokeswoman said no one was injured and it was unclear as to whether or not a weapon was involved.

She said police are still making inquiries to find the person.
