Firefighters have helped free a woman stuck inside a parking building lift in Rotorua.

A New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokesman said Rotorua fire brigade was called to a building in Hinemoa St just before 11.30am following a report of someone trapped in a lift.

Rotorua senior station officer Paul Glanville said the woman told them she was trapped inside the lift for about 25 minutes.

"We were able to free her within five minutes of our arrival and the lift was working afterwards," Glanville said.

Despite the time, the woman was trapped she doing fine afterwards," he said.
