Hundreds of children from Rotorua primary schools took part in the Rats Kids Duathlon today.

Based at the Waipa mountain bike tracks south of Rotorua, there were two different courses.

The short course was a 500m run, 3km bike and 500m run while the long course was a 1.5km run, 8km bike and 500m run.

Children in Years 3 and 4 had to complete the short course while children in Years 5 and 6 could choose the short or long course. Children in Years 7 and 8 had to do the long course.


Merit awards were presented to the first three place getters for boys and girls in each category.

The event is run by Rats (Rotorua Association of Triathletes) and Sport Bay of Plenty.
