A woman who suffered serious injuries following a fatal crash on State Highway 30 near Rotorua is today recovering in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the top of Tikitere hill past the passing lanes at Hell's Gate at 10.40am on Sunday after a car was in collision with two motorcycles.
A woman riding one of the motorcycles was killed and a second woman was transported to the hospital in a serious condition.
A Lakes District Health Board communications spokeswoman said the woman was this morning in a stable condition.
Bay of Plenty road policing manager Inspector Brent Crowe has asked if anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward to police by calling (07) 348 0099.

The fatality takes the road toll to six people killed on roads within the Rotorua police district since the start of the year - 11 people died on Rotorua roads in all of 2018.
Three Higgins road workers from Rotorua - Haki Hiha, David Eparaima and Dudley Soul Raroa - were killed on Tuesday last week in a crash at a work site at Matatā.
Two of their colleagues were also injured and have since been discharged from hospital.
