Work on bridges damaged in the April storm is ongoing with contractors completing construction at Rerewhakaaitu bridge 3 this week.

Rotorua Lakes Council said from Tuesday, October 23 contractors will move to Rerewhakaaitu bridge 2.

The road closure currently in place at bridge 3 will be shifted to bridge 2 for the duration of the repair work, which is likely to be four to five weeks, weather permitting.

The localised detour currently in place via Yankee Rd/Northern Boundary Rd will remain in place.

Property access from October 23 will be as follows:

• 396 – 505 Rerewhakaaitu Rd: All access via Yankee Rd / Ashpit Rd
• 51 – 300 Rerewhakaaitu Rd: All access via SH38 / Brett Rd

All property owners between the two bridges, bridges 2 and 3, are being advised by letter about the road closure changes.

Rotorua Lakes Council thanked the residents for their ongoing patience while the works are being carried out.
