The country's premier celebration of wood is only weeks away and host town Kawerau is encouraging motorhome owners to mark it on the calendar.
WoodFest is in its 11th year although the competition it supports, the National Woodskills Competition, was launched in 1989. The annual event attracts up to 12,000 people to the mill town.
Family-friendly WoodFest kicks off on Saturday, September 29 and is free to spectators.
It will feature a raft of events including a BMX freestyle show, the Hubbard Contracting FMX Pro show and wood-chopping and chainsaw pro-logging races. There will also be a market day, craft and food stalls, entertainment and amusements.
WoodFest is held at Kawerau's Prideaux Park and, as the town is one of the first in the country to embrace freedom camping, Kawerau residents are encouraging motorhome owners to spend a few days taking in the annual event.
