Well-known Taupo woman Helene Phillips has been appointed to the Geyser Community Foundation Board of Trustees.
Phillips said Taupo was a great community and she was very excited to help support its long-term future as a trustee of the foundation.
"We are very lucky to have Geyser supporting our local communities. Community foundations are a very positive and exciting concept, which is relatively new in New Zealand.
"I look forward to helping the foundation continue to grow permanent endowment funds for the long-term benefit of the Taupo and Rotorua district communities."
Geyser Community Foundation chairman Pat Brown said trustees were delighted to welcome Phillips as a trustee.
"Trustees generously volunteer their time, skills and energy on Geyser's board and committees.
"Their knowledge and dedication help shape Geyser's work and ensure we remain in touch with the communities we serve.
"Helene has served as an ambassador of the foundation since 2013 and understands the community foundation concept well."
A director of Ferner Galleries, Phillips moved to Acacia Bay to semi-retire with partner Peter Jarvis in 2008.
A former foundation trustee of the Auckland Art Fair and Trustee of the Lake Taupo Arts Trust, she is president of the Tauhara Luncheon and Lecture Club, a member of the Taupo Women's Club and was secretary of the organising committee for the 69th annual conference of the New Zealand Rhododendron Association held in Taupo in 2013.
