Maureen Harker has been shopping at New World Westend for close to two decades and that support has helped her win a new car.

Maureen won the car through the New World Clubcard Car Giveaway Campaign, which is one of the last things she expected.

Across New Zealand, 138 stores took part with each one having a Holden LS Spark 1.4L AUTO car to give away - including New World Westend.

Maureen says winning the car has been exciting as it is not every day a person scoops such a big prize.

"I'm not usually a lucky person but that was my day."

Maureen, a long-time New World West End customer, says she got the call to say she was the winner while at work.

She picked the car up on Monday and was also given a nice bunch of flowers, she says

"It's a lovely little car. It's great around town, I couldn't ask for anything better," Maureen says.

"They are all so pleasant there and I've got to know all the girls there now. It's a lovely place to shop."

New World Westend owner operator Greg Dyson says Maureen has been a customer at Westend for 18 years, since it had been open.

"It's always nice to see somebody's surprise and it's great that it's gone to a loyal shopper."

He says it is always nice to put a smile on their face.

Customers received one entry into the draw with every $50 they spent in store and scanned their New World Clubcard, Fly Buys or Airpoints Card.

Maureen's prize package includes the car, a current registration and Warrant of Fitness, a first petrol fill, a three year or 100,000km warranty and three year unlimited kilometre roadside assistance from Holden NZ.
