Child cancer fundraiser raises $10,000

The Child Cancer Foundation is $10,000 better off thanks to a special raffle held in Rotorua.

The draw for the raffle took place at Mitre 10 Mega Rotorua, followed by the presentation of the cheque to the Child Cancer Foundation earlier this month.

Two hundred raffle tickets were sold for the prize of a fully paid, fun-filled weekend for a family based around the World 240's Super Stock meeting, being run by the Rotorua Stockcar Club in January 2018.

The raffle was organised by motorsport racing team drivers, Ross Ashby and Mark Costello through Ross Ashby Motorsport.

Ross chose to support the foundation last season after a close family friend lost a son to cancer.

The duo say it has been a humbling experience to be involved with the charity.

The raffle was won by a family in Te Aroha who has connections with the Child Cancer Foundation.

A representative of the foundation attended the draw and cheque presentation event.

Ross and Mark also thanked sponsors of the raffle - Rotorua Retreats, aMAZEme, JB's Electrical, Fat Dog Cafe, Tasty Bits Mobile Event Catering, Rainbow Springs, Conning Signs and the Rotorua Stockcar Club.
