Members of the Rotorua Muslim community shared a meal with the city's homeless as a part of Ramadhan.
Ramadhan is a religious month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
Rotorua Muslim community spokesman Aladina Harunani said the meal took place on Saturday night at Mecca Kebabs, because their food was halal and healthy.
There was also fruit and extra bread which people could take away with them.
Mr Harunani said there were about 35 people at the meal altogether, with more than 25 being homeless.
"What I've come to learn is people are homeless because there is a gap in society that needs to be filled.
"They have lost their job and their house, and everyone needs to help."
He said everyone needed to get together to help solve the homelessness problem.
The meal was sponsored by Apa Architects Ltd and Love Soup Rotorua let people know and brought them along.
Love Soup Rotorua co-founder Elmer Peiffer said the meal was fantastic, and the people they worked with and served were "grateful and over the moon".
"It's fantastic, we couldn't do what we do without the support of the community - they are the driving force of us being successful.
He said he caught up with one man today who had been there, and the man said he enjoyed the meal and was quite humbled by how the Muslim community looked after him.
Mr Peiffer said they also had a Ramadhan meal for the homeless last year, and it showed all cultures could come together and be in harmony.
Ana Crosbie who was at the dinner said the Muslim community had helped through Love Soup before and it was brilliant - "they are awesome people".
She said it was good to see different cultures come together.
