The Interislander Summer Festival is galloping into town again on December 27, and guarantees grassroots racing action, live music and all-day kids entertainment.

A firm Kiwi favourite, the 2016/17 summer series boasts 36 events at holiday hotspots, from Ruakaka in the north, to Waikouaiti in the south.

Racing Rotorua spokesman
Damien Radesic said the annual festival kept growing in popularity.

"The Interislander Summer Festival has carved out a loyal following in Rotorua over the past 11 years, and we're gearing up for another successful event.

"A day at the races is one of our great Kiwi summertime traditions and the festival offers a wonderful chance to experience the fun and excitement of country races. Whether you're a first-time punter, a young family or a group of friends looking for a fun day in the sun, the Interislander Summer Festival caters to everyone.

"So gather up your friends and family, whip out your picnic blanket and your jandals, and prepare to relax while soaking up the summer sun."

The festival features a full day of entertainment for the whole family.

Kids will be spoilt for choice with the More FM Kids Go Racing area providing free activities for under-12s. Competitions, activities and goodie bags will keep the little ones entertained.
