The Rotorua District Choir performance of Goin' to Bethelehem will now take place at the Energy Events Centre.

The Rotorua District Choir performance of Goin' to Bethelehem will now take place at the Energy Events Centre.

The earthquake damage to the Rotorua Museum has forced a change of venue for Friday's Rotorua District Choir performance of Goin' to Bethelehem .

This follows the closure of the museum for damage assessment after the Kaikoura earthquake two weeks ago.

The performance will now go ahead at the Energy
Events Centre.

A decision about the ongoing operation of Rotorua Museum is likely to be made later this week but the museum team wanted to ensure the special performance by the Rotorua District Choir went ahead.

"While we don't yet know the final decision for the Bath House building in which the museum is housed, we couldn't wait to make a call about the location of this event until later in the week," said event coordinator Kathy Nicholls.

"We want as many people to come along and celebrate this festive time of year. It's for a great cause with all funds raised going to Waiariki Women's Refuge for families in need this Christmas."

Entry is by gold coin donation or by gifting a present to the Rotorua Museum Community Christmas Tree. All gifts and donations will be presented to the Waiariki Women's Refuge in time for Christmas to be distributed to families in need.

The performance is this Friday December 2 with doors opening at 6:15pm for a 6.30pm start.

For further information about this event please contact rotorua.museum@rotorualc.nz or phone Kathy 027 674 1898.
