A man has been flown to hospital after suffering a serious medical event.
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Galatea at 1pm yesterday where a 53-year-old male suffered a medical event that needed immediate hospital care.
The helicopter landed in a paddock next to the farm house and StJohn paramedics stabilised the patient before he was flown to Rotorua Hospital.
Shortly afterwards the helicopter was used to transport the same patient to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
The helicopter was called due to the remoteness and the condition of the patient.
