Kaitao Middle School students have picked up an international award for their music video entry at a ceremony in Melbourne.

They won the Senior Secondary Music Video section with their entry "In the Air" at the SAE ATOM Awards which celebrate the best of Australian and New Zealand screen content from the education sector and media industries.

Kaitao Middle School head of technology department Peter Boot, and two students and their families travelled to Melbourne for the ceremony.

Mr Boot said the video took about seven to eight months to create and about three weeks to edit.

The school's entry was up against ones made by senior high school students.
