The Sulphur City Steam Rollers' Motley Crew aim to spook Aucklanders, the Broadside Brawlers in a wicked night at the Hell-O-Wheels roller derby.

Steam Rollers chairwoman Layla Robinson is inviting the audience to take part in tomorrow night's spooktacular and dress up Halloween style.

"It's going to be hard to beat the audience from Slam Rock when about 40 per cent of people were dressed up. It was outrageous. But I'm laying down the challenge to beat it. It's going to be a lot of fun," she said.

Prizes will be given to the best dressed adult and child Halloween costumes, as well as those with the best supporter signs for their favourite team or skaters.

Half-time entertainment will include a performance by young members of the Rotorua Roller Skating Club, and kids in the crowd in costume will be invited down to the track for treats.

And if that's not entertainment enough, you can always just watch the roller derby!

Ms Robinson said the game promised to be close because both teams had the same level of experience and some new players.

The Sulphur City Steam Rollers' Motley Crew will be hoping to retain its 100 per cent home game record and it might be tough.

"It should be pretty even. The only thing we have over them is numbers. It gets pretty tiring out there and we have 12 in our team and they only have 10. I think we also may have better defensive strategies than they do, so we will make that work on the tracks. It's going to be an awesome night."

What: Hell-O-Wheels
Where: Sportsdrome
When: Tomorrow 6pm-9pm
Tickets: $15 adults, $7 children, $40 family from Ticketmaster
