A driver who allegedly failed to stop for police sparked a chase through Rotorua over the weekend.

A police spokeswoman said the chase began at 11.16pm on Saturday when a driver was signalled to pull over, but did not. The chase went from Clayton Rd through to the Central Mall.

The driver eventually pulled over near the Rotorua Central Mall.

A person has been charged with failing to stop, reckless driving, refusing a police request for blood and possession of cannabis and will appear in the Rotorua District Court on Thursday.

The car was impounded for 28 days.
