The Rogue Stage's Karin Vincent saw Ed Zuccollo play live with the Gypsy Extravaganza show last summer, and knew she just had to get him back to Rotorua.

This time Zuccollo is performing at the Prince's Gate and she believes the audience will respond to his young, fresh, energetic approach.

"He plays remakes of Daft Punk's Get Lucky to Britney Spears' Toxic. He has a broad repertoire and knows how to read the audience and apply his music to suit them," said Ms Vincent.

"He also like to talk to the audience and engages them with the performance. I'm very excited to see Ed centre-stage, with cool back drops and light art doing his thing."

Zuccollo has worked with almost every top professional musician in this country, and is the keys player for Trinity Roots, Flite, and Tyson Smith. He has done session recording for artists from Thomas Oliver to Drax Project, and Electric Wire Hustle to Hollie Smith. He also plays with an upbeat ensemble in Wellington with jazz guitarist, Nikita, who recently played in Rotorua.

For his solo show, you'll be taken on a dynamic journey from energetic synth beats, lush ambient soundscapes, to thick funky grooves.

There might even be the odd rap - in which the audience may be asked to help.

"He has vast knowledge and command of his instrument, a Mini MOOG synthesizer. His energy, his big beaming smile and the way he has so much fun behind his keyboard is contagious," said Ms Vincent.

"Ed wanted to play for The Rogue Stage audience again, he said it was an unusual experience to be appreciated and listened to. He loved playing in Rotorua alongside Rio Hemopo and Justin Firefly for the NZ Music Month Finale gig at Sir Howard Morrison Performance Art Centre. Such a nice compliment for our city and Rotorua audiences."
