After a break from the rain today the region is expected to get drenched again from tomorrow afternoon with a severe weather watch issued.

MetService issued the watch for much of central New Zealand including the Bay of Plenty.

A low is expected to form over the Tasman Sea today then quickly deepen and move towards the country tomorrow bringing periods of heavy rain from Saturday evening to overnight Sunday.

100 to 150mm of rain is likely about the ranges of the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
