Rotorua's unsung heroes will be acknowledged at the Trustpower Rotorua Lakes Community Awards on Wednesday evening.

Winners, runner-ups and other stand-out groups will be named across five categories and awarded with certificates and cash prizes during the function at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.

The 2016 Youth Community Spirit Award will also pinpoint a local teen going above and beyond for their school and community, and a carefully selected supreme award winner will be announced at the end of the presentation ceremony.

The five categories are Heritage and Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, Sport and Leisure, Education and Child/Youth Development.

Guests can arrive from 5.30pm for drinks and nibbles with the award presentations starting at 6.00 pm.
