Rotorua's premier day of racing - cup day - is happening tomorrow with plenty of action both on the track and off it for those heading along.
The big one - the Rotorua Cup - is one of nine races being held during the day.
Organisers are hoping for a crowd of a couple of thousand of people, with free entry, live music, kids' entertainment such as magic shows and lolly scrambles and losing ticket draws planned.
The first race of the day is at 11.52am with the last race at 4.36pm.
The Campbell Infrastructure Rotorua Cup race, which is being run at 2.44pm, attracts good quality horses with $75,000 at stake and some of the best racing seen on the track in Rotorua.
While many will be heading along to see the action on the track, organisers say it is a good day out for those who just wanted to do something a bit different.
People can take along a picnic and barbecues are allowed on the public lawn. People can also take along a bottle of wine or half a dozen beers per adult.
The next Saturday race meeting for the club is at the end of July, with the Taumarunui Racing Club holding its annual meeting at Rotorua.
The Rotorua Plate Day will be held in October.
