The weekend's rain clouds cleared in time for racing enthusiasts to enjoy the 82nd Annual Rotorua & Bay of Plenty Hunt Cup.
TRAC Racing Rotorua marketing and sponsorship manager Don Paterson said yesterday's free event went well at Arawa Park. It also featured the traditional Parade of the Hunt Hounds, live music and entertainment for children.
"Obviously we were a bit concerned with all the rain we had but there was only a shower in the morning before the sky cleared and we had a good crowd," Mr Paterson said.
"Lots of mums and dads attended with kids as we have our children's area."
Mr Paterson said the day included the $20,000 Sweeney Townsend Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Cup which was the longest jump race in the country at 4400m.
