A heavy rain warning remains in place for the Bay of Plenty over the coming days.
The MetService is warning people of heavy rainfalls in the northern parts of both the North Island and the South Island until Wednesday.
A complex trough with a series of lows is moving south over the Tasman Sea and is directing a most northeast flow over northern and central parts of New Zealand.
A prolonged period of rain is expected about much of the North Island and northeastern parts of the South Island over the next few days.
The heaviest falls are expected about Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, western Bay of Plenty, Marlborough and areas of the Canterbury High Country and foothills from today until Wednesday.
