If you have a Smartride card you can travel around Rotorua this Easter Saturday and Sunday free.
Smartride card travel will be waived on the buses for all card users. Passengers just need to show their cards to the driver when they hop on and their fare will be waived.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council public transport subcommittee chairman Lyall Thurston said Smartride cards were a convenient way to use the Rotorua Cityride network, as they eliminated the need for people to carry cash with them when they travelled.
Smartride cards can be bought from the bus driver and cost $17.20, this includes a $10 credit loaded to your Smartcard. You then buy top-ups from the bus driver as you need them," Mr Thurston said.
"In addition, people using the Smartride cards for their day to day travel are charged at a lower rate than if you'd pay by cash. It's a great way to save some money."
Cityride buses will not run on Good Friday or Easter Monday.
