New Zealand singer Anna Hawkins will perform with Paul Potts in Rotorua.

New Zealand singer Anna Hawkins will perform with Paul Potts in Rotorua.

Up and coming New Zealand singer Anna Hawkins will join Paul Potts when the Britain's Got Talent winner performs in Rotorua.

It was announced yesterday that Waikato-born Hawkins will join Potts when he takes to the stage at the Civic Theatre on April 20.

Hawkins, who has been singing crossover since she was a child, has recently returned from Tokyo where she played the starring role of Christine in musical The Phantom of the Opera and said she was thrilled to be able to sing with Potts.

Hawkins was excited about coming back to Rotorua where she competed in the New Zealand Aria competition and won the under-16 junior section when she was 11.

The young star has been involved in several musicals and classical performances.

Hawkins recently released her first album titled Journey On.

Rotorua Events and Venues general manager Peter McLeod encouraged fans to purchase their tickets early. More than half the available tickets have sold out, two months ahead of the show.

"It's clearly going to be a sell-out, so people should get in early to avoid disappointment. We're experiencing a lot of interest from out-of-towners as Paul's only concerts in the upper North Island are in Rotorua and Auckland," he said.

Mr McLeod said there would be a pre-concert dinner on offer in the adjacent Concert Chamber ahead of the show.

Tickets for the dinner and the Paul Potts concert are available from Ticketmaster at the Rotorua Convention Centre, online at www.ticketmaster.co.nz or by calling 0800 111 999.
