The body of the woman who died in a Rotorua house fire has been returned to her family in Tauranga.
Deena Christa Borrell, 32, was found in the rear bedroom of the burning Clayton Rd house on Monday morning by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
Two teenage boys, who were neighbours, rescued a young boy from the fierce fire, but were unable to save Ms Borrell.
Relatives of Ms Borrell are today mourning at Te Puna's Paparoa Marae, where the mother of four's body arrived yesterday.
Ms Borrell and her family had only moved into the Western Heights home just days before it erupted in flames early on Monday.
Firefighters found the other six people living at the house vomiting from smoke inhalation outside the burning house.
They were taken to Rotorua Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.
Family members at Paparoa Marae were too devastated to talk to reporters this morning, but one family member said the tragedy had been a "real thump to us ... it'll be a long time before we all get over this".
The described Ms Borrell as a "kind, good person"
Ms Borrell's funeral service was to be held tomorrow morning.
Rotorua area tactical response manager Inspector Greg Sparrow said police assisted fire investigators from the New Zealand Fire Service to determine the cause and surrounding circumstances of the fatal fire.
"Police are satisfied that there are no suspicious circumstances and the matter has been referred to the coroner."
Assistant fire commander Nigel Richards said the investigation into the cause of the fire had eliminated all causes other than smoking in bed.
He said Ms Borrell would likely have been saved had there been a fire alarm installed at the property and said smoking in bed was "not the best idea".
