UPDATE to earlier national story in today's The Daily Post:
Missing Palmerston North girl Sapphire has turned up at her local primary school, police have confirmed.
The 7-year-old "just rocked up'' at school this morning, Senior Sergeant Andy Brooke told NZPA. He had yet to find out where she had been overnight, but said Somerset Crescent School in Highbury alerted police about 8.30am that the girl was there.
"I'll send someone around to talk to her very shortly''.
Principal Robyn Tootill said staff were relieved she had been found.
"She's been found, she's fine, totally oblivious to any drama and had a great night's sleep -- unlike the rest of us,'' she told the Stuff website.
She would not say where Sapphire had spent the night.
Police have said Sapphire was known as a "wanderer'', and had disappeared before.
"She is known for wandering around the neighbourhood. She is well known around the neighbourhood for being a wanderer, but this is the first time she's been out for this period of time,'' Mr Brooke said.
Sapphire was missing for 14 hours, and was last sighted riding her orange bicycle with black handlebars and tyres near her home. Her "shattered'' family contacted police about 10.45 pm last night after searching for almost five hours, Mr Brooke said.
Police had 30 people searching for Sapphire overnight, including volunteers.
