'Armed' man in Whakarewarewa Forest was carrying camera tripod

Save A person who was seen carrying a firearm this afternoon was actually carrying a camera tripod.
Police cordoned off the Long Mile Rd entrance to Whakarewarewa Forest this afternoon, after reports of a person seen with a gun.
A police media spokeswoman told the Rotorua Daily Post that a man
was reported carrying a firearm in the Whakarewarewa Forest area.
The incident was reported about 4.20pm.
Police have since spoken with the person matching the description of the man with the "gun".
