More than 2500 people flocked to see some of New Zealand's top local talent at the Arataki Day Out yesterday free-of-charge.
With not a cloud in the sky and the sun beating down, families and fans were treated to performances from hit artists including Sons of Zion and Kings.
Kings,well-known for his top hit Don't Worry 'Bout It, said he found the event an opportunity to give back to the community.
The down-to-earth singer had his family at the event with him and said with so many other kids around, his children managed to make some friends.
Kings said he was surprised about the large turn out at the local event and with extended family who live in the area, he got to "kill two birds with one stone".
There was no shortage of roaming children at the event, with one event worker even suggesting a "lost kids" tent be put in place.
Erica Walsh and her three children travelled all the way from Hamilton for the event.
She said her kids were absolutely loving it and it really was such a cool day.
Walsh said she was constantly rubbing her little ones in the sunblock provided to keep them protected, while they had fun.

According to MetService Meteorologist Claire Flynn, Tauranga temperatures reached up to 24.6C.
Event organiser Pato Alvarez said the event was a great day to celebrate and give back to the community.
"It is great to see the event growing every year. The atmosphere has been amazing and everyone is having a great time."
Alvarez said he wanted to thank the Arataki community for supporting it.
He also extended the big thank you to all the volunteers ''who helped make this event happen, and all the artists who came to Tauranga to support it''.
