Insightful behind the scenes stories from sports stars, up & comers and supporters

Introducing our new sports show ANZ Sport Scene hosted by Laura McGoldrick and Marc Peard.

The inimitable Laura McGoldrick and the always funny Marc Peard will be bringing in-depth and light-hearted takes on the New Zealand sporting landscape.

Sports Scene has a little something for everyone. The show is not just about the big sporting events, it also goes behind the scenes to find out what makes athletes tick.

On this episode, Marc goes for a surf with Piha's Elliot Paerata-Reid who is coming off a second placed finish at the national surfing champs in Gisborne.

The Piha local talks about his love for surfing and teaches Marc a thing or two about the sport.

Paerata-Reid was topped by Gisborne's Ricardo Christie who scored a near perfect score to claim his second national title.

Laura then talks to Black Caps star Martin Guptill – who also happens to be her husband – about the Black Caps' incredible summer hot streak.

The Black Caps have been on fire all summer and have swept the West Indies and Pakistan. It has led many to wonder if this is one of the great Black Caps teams.

Finally, Marc introduces his quirky segment Marc's Mantra where he attempts to get inside the heads of top athletes.

This week, he catches up with Black Caps leg-spinner Ish Sodhi who coaches Marc during an impromptu game of indoor cricket in the NZME offices against teammate Mitchell Santner.
