Rotorua Lakes Council has voted to set its rates and approve its Annual Plan for the coming financial year that will come into effect from June 30.

Rates will rise across the district at an average of 1.9 per cent however, there will be larger increases for owners of rural residential properties and smaller rises for those in business for commercial properties.

The long-awaited District Plan was also signed off at a meeting of the Rotorua Lakes Council today.

The plan was made operative after eight years of work and the successful resolution of all appeals and at a record low cost, compared to other councils around the country. No appeals had to go to the Environment Court for hearings.
