Adjournment for man charged with wife's murder

A man charged with the murder of his wife in Taupo at Easter will wait at least another two weeks before he pleads to the charge.

Simon Harvey Frank, 56, from Wellington appeared in the High Court at Rotorua today via audio visual link. He is charged with the murder of 58-year-old Petra Frank.

He was due to plead to the charge today but his lawyer, Harry Edward, asked the matter be adjourned to allow a medical report to be completed.

Justice Sarah Katz remanded Frank into the custody of the Henry Bennett Centre in Hamilton until June 21.

The murder is alleged to have happened on Saturday, April 15 at a Mahuta Rd property at Five Mile Bay, near Taupo.

Emergency services responded to a report a woman had suffered stab wounds in the morning. She was taken to Waikato Hospital but died that day.
