The 2017 Te Arawa Awards ceremony was held tonight at Te Puia, celebrating outstanding achievements within Te Arawa.

The awards showcase Te Arawa talent through an intergenerational perspective and acknowledge excellence in sport, cultural activities, service to the community, academia and people making positive contributions to whanau, hapu, iwi and Marae.

Te Puia and the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust sponsored the Rangatai award section which recognises the achievements of Te Arawa Rangatahi.

The awards encourage and promote participation, future opportunities, leadership and interaction in a positive environment whilst providing rangatahi with incentives to fulfil their potential and take pride in their talent and abilities.

The Rangatahi Awards are divided into three age groups and rangatahi achievers are recognised for excellence.
