Seasoned television presenter Stacey Morrison is calling for young talent from the Bay of Plenty to take part in a live concert celebrating Matariki.
Morrison (Te Arawa, Kai Tahu) will co-host Matariki Magic, a two-hour talent show aimed at "introducing exceptional young New Zealanders to the rest of thecountry while also celebrating the Maori New Year", at the Pacific Events Centre in Manukau on June 22.
The event will screen live on Maori Television and entries close May 31.
Morrison said the show's organisers were looking for future stars from kindergarten through to high school age who others believed could go far because they were prepared to work hard and had a passion and commitment to achieve their dreams.
"They could be young entrepreneurs, scientists, maths geniuses, gifted musicians, rising sports stars, artists, kapa haka experts or eco-warriors ... the list is limitless. We've got some amazing youngsters among us here in Aotearoa and, of course, in the Bay, so why not celebrate them," she said.
"Whatever your background or talent, if you're 18 or younger, or you know someone exceptional in your family, at school, next door or in the wider community, give it a go."
Morrison will host the show alongside New Zealand's Best Presenter 2012 Matai Smith and 15-year-old Taipa Area School student Ezekiel Raui.
Titanium, Don McGlashan, Jae'O and the Bubblegum Dance Crew will also perform at the event.
