A "youth development squad" has been set up by the Bay of Plenty Blues Club, following the success of the youth workshops held as part of the Rotorua Blues Festival.
Tertiary students in Rotorua can now audition for the BoP Blues "Youth Blues Band".
The club is looking for lead,rhythm and bass guitarists, vocalists, drummers and keyboard players for the new band. In return, it will offer free coaching clinics to get the newly-formed band up to speed to perform in public.
It is hoped the band will perform at the 2014 Rotorua Blues Festival next Queen's Birthday Weekend.
Other possible performance opportunities include appearances at the club's monthly Jam Nights and other local gigs such as the Rotorua Night Market.
