All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. Or at least Rotorua Lakes High School will provide the stage and four Rotorua schools the actors and actresses when it hosts the regional finals of the UOSW Shakespeare Festival tomorrow.
John Paul College, Western Heights HighSchool, Rotorua Girls' High School and Rotorua Lakes High School will be putting on a range of performances open to the public as they compete for the chance to get to the Shakespeare Festival final and perform at Shakespeare's Globe, London, as members of SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company.
"It really is a festival to enjoy each other's work," said 2012 Shakespeare Festival regional co-ordinator Gabrielle Thurston.
"Come along and enjoy the students' work. They have worked hard and put a lot of time and effort into it. They deserve an audience."
Mrs Thurston has directed John Paul College's teacher-directed entry of Twelfth Night, the school is also entering a student-directed entry of Coriolanus. Other plays to feature include Othello, Merchant of Venice, Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest.
