Following the story of a woman who was dumped at the altar, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do is a light, easy-to-watch comedy with great music.
Director Natasha Rivers Smith, from Rotorua Musical Theatre, said the show was about a girl that got dumped at the altar who visits aresort with her girlfriend. She said there were a lot of "zany" characters on the way.
"It's actually really funny, the comedy is first class. It's light entertainment with some old school music. Everybody has worked so hard - I've been watching it non-stop for the last three weeks. It's an easy show to come and see, everyone that has seen it so far has enjoyed it. It's light, it's happy and the music is fantastic."
Ms Rivers Smith said it was the kind of show that didn't involve a lot of heavy thinking, but was good to just sit down and watch while enjoying a few drinks.
"It's one of those shows that's just great entertainment. People can just sit there and let the music take them away, have a few drinks and just enjoy it. A few people have asked about booking in for staff Christmas dos - plus the bar is cheap."
The show will be running for two weeks, with the opening performance starting tomorrow. Ms Rivers Smith said well-known Rotorua actors Kim Chapman, Sally Smyth and Connor Hignett would all be in the show, all of whom have performed together in previous shows such as Cats.
"It's not a huge cast but everybody has done a lot of shows, the standard is really high. We were lucky to have those people audition. We've got a young guy in the band called Adrian, he's only 13 and playing lead guitar and one of the ladies in the vocal block must be in her 80s."
Tomorrow's performance begins at 8pm at the Casa Blanca Theatre, 122 Riri St. The show will run until December 8.
