Daily Post reporter Anita Moran talks about her progress with boot camp.
It's official, I have made it through boot camp.
Six weeks ago I dragged myself out of bed, in the cold and before the sun was even thinking about coming up, to go to the gym to get weighed
From then on, I had to get up and be at training at 6am three days a week.
Yesterday, I had my last early morning start as part of the Bridal Boot Camp. Again I dragged myself out of bed and was back at the gym.
This time though it wasn't as daunting as six weeks ago. This time I was nervous, but also excited about seeing if I had made any improvements.
My trainer warned me before I hopped back on the scales that I shouldn't expect a big weight loss, but I was pleasantly surprised at the difference.
I lost 4kg during boot camp, but the biggest improvement had to be the 5cm off my waist and my improved fitness levels.
This past week has been about re-testing. We have been doing exercises which we did during the first week with the aim of improving.
I knocked nearly two minutes off my run time and can do more push-ups and more sit-ups than I could when I started.
I even improved when it came to the beep test.
A fellow boot-camper and bride-to-be said she was extra pleased with her results and the fact she lost several centimetres off her waist.
The aim of the boot camp is to become faster, fitter and stronger and I can honestly say that I have achieved all of those things, but I couldn't have done it on my own. The team atmosphere and the encouragement from my trainer made it that much easier to go to each of the training sessions and get the results I was after.
I do have a slight sense of relief now that boot camp has finished but I'm also worried that I won't be able to maintain my new-found enthusiasm for exercise.
I think for now I have to try to go it alone but at least I know that if I fail, I can always do another boot camp to get me back on track.
