For 50 years, the Wasps Rugby Football Club have played an instrumental part in the promotion and development of local and regional rugby in the Bay of Plenty.
To celebrate their golden jubilee, the club have released a book, Wasps Rugby Football Club. Compiled by Bay of Plenty rugby historianBrent Drabble, the book is a real gem for rugby followers.
The book traces the history of the club from its inception, thanks to William "Bill" Girling-Butcher, through to some of the greats who have worn the famous Wasps jersey, such as former All Black and Steamers legend Bill Gray, All Black great Colin Meads, Hika Reid and Frank Shelford, to name a few.
The book sheds light on some of the tours and matches during the club's rich history, as well as some fantastic photos and match programmes from a bygone era.
The book is a limited edition and is currently being sold at McLeod's Books but be quick, there are only a few left.
