A Rotorua mum was singing along to a song when it featured on the television one night this week but didn't realise how bad a voice she had until her toddler son cut her short with "no, mum, shhh". An encore is unlikely any time soon. Still on music, alocal toddler showed off her singing skills to her mother while they were driving home one day. However, her mother got a little bit of a fright when the song her toddler was singing was Turning Me On by Keri Hilson. To make it worse, the only words the young girl knew were "you're turning me on".
A 3-year-old Rotorua girl has been using the toilet for a while now but had a bit of trouble this week. While on the big girls' loo, the toddler called out to her mum. When her mother went to check on her the little girl said "it's not working". Confused, her mum asked what wasn't working, to which the girl replied "poos". Before the mum could even say anything in response, the girl let her know "it's working now" and even offered to show her mum. The mother politely refused. From the "did you know" facts file comes this one: Duelling is legal in Paraguay if both parties are registered blood donors. Now that's not silly.
We complain that too few people vote in local-body or general elections. At least we have people to vote for. But the races for mayor and three commission seats are wide open in the small North Carolina town of Tar Heel - because no one bothered to run. Apparently the ballots will be printed with blank spaces for voters to write in their choices. The incumbent mayor, Ricky Martin, is reported as saying he's not surprised nobody wants the job - the pay is poor and state budget cuts mean the next elected officials may have to raise taxes.
