Brooklyn Band The National are returning to New Zealand for one Auckland show. The band, whose recent fifth album High Violet charted well in this country, will play the Powerstation on January 12. Before recording that album, the band's Aaron and Bryce Dessner produced Dark Was The Night, a 31-track album to benefitthe Red Hot Organization and which featured contributions from Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer, and many others. It has so far raised close to $US1,000,000 (NZ$1,355,442) allowing Red Hot to make donations to many AIDS charities, including an emergency grant of $150,000USD to Partners In Health in Haiti, after the earthquake.
