The reggae vibe is right at home in Rotorua and on Sunday lovers of the genre are sure to be blown away with some rare and wonderful sounds in the middle of the city.
With Raggamuffin done and dusted for another year Rotorua's Eat Streat restaurants and bars are offeringan interesting option for a mellow Sunday's dining experience - Roots - Dub - Reggae - served up by two locals whose passion for their genre is infectious.
Rotorua soundsmith Kane Merrie said the music he would play - a huge range of rare vinyl featuring traditional roots, reggae and dub music rarely heard in New Zealand - was sure to surprise and stimulate.
"It's the first time this sort of thing has been done in Rotorua, so we are just testing the waters.
"It's really good for people to hear this, it's totally another side of reggae we don't get here," he said.
Eat Streat will be the venue for the show with Brew Bar manager Jock Dalby saying everyone along The Streat were looking forward to a busy day.
Mr Dalby said with $10 lunch specials available from most operators there should be something for every taste.
Music will be provided by locals - Merrie, aka IntaCepta and Bwoy Fiyah, aka Johnny Deep - with pumping tunes to keep those Sunday blues well away for the day.
