Louis Baker has released a video and single - Rainbow.

Louis Baker has released a new single and video called Rainbow.

The Wellington 27-year-old has a captivating voice and the one-shot music video, directed by Ben Hawker and filmed close-up on Baker's face, amplifies the power of the simple yet stunning track.

"The song is very vulnerable and authentic to who I am," says Baker. "And you only get that kind of emotion through real, lived-in experience."

The New Zealand Herald once wrote of Baker "Many soul singers might wishfully compare themselves to Marvin Gaye or Otis Redding, but for Louis Baker, the comparison is truly deserved".

Baker released a self-titled EP in 2014 and more recently appeared on a track on Pacific Heights' The Stillness.

Rainbow was written in New Zealand and recorded in London.

Street Chant say their September tour is likely to be their last.

The alternative rock band who've been together eight years are playing in Christchurch, Queenstown, Dunedin, Auckland, Tauranga and Wellington on their "CU" tour from September 8 to 24. All tickets $10.

The band posted on their Facebook page "We are taking an indefinite hiatus, come see us play the hits one last time".

Guantanamo Baywatch are set to plunder our shores with three gigs lined up for October.

The Portland rockers who describe their genre as "SURF SEX SLUDGE AND GARBAGE" are reported to be heading here with a new album in tow, and will play Auckland's Whammy Bar on October 6, Raglan's Yot Club on October 7 (did they just google 'NZ' and 'surf'?) and Wellington's Valhalla on October 8.

Scott Walker has released the soundtrack to the film The Childhood of a Leader, his return to score-writing after 1999's Pola X.

The former 60s popstar turned latter-day avant-garde musician worked with musical director Mark Warman and co-producer Peter Walsh on the project, wrangling 46 string and 16 brass players.

The film, directed by Brady Corbet, chronicles the formative years of a young boy living in Paris in 1919.

Revisit a classic

Whakatane-born Emma Paki's star burned bright in the mid 90s then disappeared.

The 1996 album Oxygen of Love featured several amazing tracks, the best of which were System Virtue, a beautiful, moody, timeless Jaz Coleman-produced song, and Greenstone, a highly powerful Neil Finn-produced track that demands repeat listening.
