It's been a while since we've heard from Kiwi hip hop band Smashproof, but they're getting back on the road for a mini come-back tour starting in Rotorua.
South Auckland trio Tyree, Sidney Diamond and Deach make up the successful band Smashproof whose debut
single Brother broke a 23-year-old record inNew Zealand by clocking up the longest consecutive run at number one by a local act on the New Zealand Singles Chart in 2008.
Now in 2012, Deach says the boys want to ``bring Smashproof back'' and crush any rumours that they have split.
``We haven't broken up,'' Deach said.
They are embarking on a mini come-back tour which will feature Smashproof and Sir-T with DJ Soultre - and
that will start in Rotorua on Thursday night at The Shed. He said Sir-T and DJ Soultre would warm up the crowd before Smashproof performed.
Deach told The Daily Post Smashproof would perform their older music but also introduce the Rotorua audience to some of their new material, which could end up on their new album expected to be released later this year.
Deach said the tour would showcase the fact Smashproof was still going strong as a band, despite having their own solo projects, and they continued to make music which was ``real life''.
``We're just trying to bring the hype back.''
It has been four years since Smashproof last performed in Rotorua together and Deach was looking forward to coming back, promising a good show.
``Come to our show and support New Zealand music. It's going to be different but it's still going to be a party.''
``We speak about real life.''
``This is us, this is our music.''
Smashproof will also perform im Tauranga on Friday and Hamilton on Sunday. The band will continue their tour heading north next weekend.
The Smashproof and Sir-T with DJ Soultre gig will cost $5 before 11pm and $10 after.
