Award-winning American singer/songwriter/guitarist Ruth Wyand will perform in Rotorua as part of her New Zealand tour.
Wyand, who draws on American roots music to frame her lyrics and demonstrate her strengths, will perform in the city on March 28 at the Rotorua Arts Village.
Her multi-media concert, A Journey downan American Music Highway, covers 150 years of American music from the Civil War to the present.
Wyand created the show in hopes of strengthening ties between America and other cultures through musical exchange.
Segments will focus on people who have held a prominent place in the pantheon of American musical and cultural history, from Steven Foster to Bob Dylan.
In addition to performing musical renditions from each historical era, Wyand will share humorous anecdotes and stories of the singers, songwriters, and musicians who have made up America's musical tapestry.
During each session, Wyand performs a composition of various artists while visually displaying the artists' portraits, performance photos, and other appealing artefacts of their time.
Tickets cost $25 and include a complimentary glass of wine. Numbers are strictly limited, so advance booking is recommended. Tickets available from the Rotorua Arts Village on the corner of Hinemoa and Hinemaru Streets, or online at www.eventfinder.co.nz.
