Rotunda shows prove popular

When friends Gary Timbs and Kura Temara packed their fold-out chairs in the car they only had one destination in mind.

Music at the Band Rotunda, which features live music every Sunday at Government Gardens. The event attracted more than a hundred people yesterday.

Mr Timbs and Ms Temara made the most of the sunny weather by attending the event, listening to music from Keith Garratt and Friends.

"I've been to the last two shows and they have been very good, well worth coming along."

He said he was most impressed by the range of music which was offered each week.

"This girl is very good today, last week they had a few older bands and before that they had some jazz."

Mr Timbs said they wanted to make the most of the weather yesterday, and they were planning a swim at Lake Okareka following the music event.

Ms Temara said she was also impressed with the talent on show.

She said she would come back again next week if the weather was fine.

Music at the Band Rotunda is a free event organised by the Rotorua District Council.

Anyone is welcome to attend with live music going from 1pm-2.30pm each Sunday.

Upcoming acts include the Highland Pipe Band, Sunrise Rockers, The Edward Brothers, Thermaleles and Acousticity.

The final show will be held on Sunday, March 24.
