Tonight's the night for Rotorua fans of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa as she gets set to perform at the city's Convention Centre.
She is appearing in concert with acclaimed New Zealand tenor Ben Makisi and accompanied by pianist Terence Dennis
The soprano's concert sold out within two days of goingon sale in December.
Promoter Ian Edward said he wasn't surprised by the massive interest in the show, with music lovers having no hesitation in snapping up the 680 tickets priced between $90 and $120.
"This is one of those rare opportunities that come along." he said.
Mr Edward, together with fellow performing arts enthusiast Grahame Hall, spent months securing Dame Kiri's services for the concert at the Civic Theatre.
"We can be terribly proud that Rotorua has put together such an event," Mr Edward said.
He said Dame Kiri had recently performed at concerts in Honolulu, in Australia and at Windsor Castle.
Mr Edward said tickets had also sold out for the gala banquet and show combination, at $215 a ticket. The 200 lucky guests will enjoy a banquet dinner before moving on to the recital.
