Rotorua Daily Post Home and Leisure Show starts today

This year's show has many giveaways, including a $7000, 10-night South Pacific cruise for two adults embarking from Sydney. This year's Rotorua Daily Post Home and Leisure Show promises to be one of the most exciting in its six-year history.

With more than 200 exhibitors and giveaways worth $20,000 on offer, the show is under one roof in the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

There are plenty of displays to entice the public, says Rotorua Daily Post advertising and event manager Janine Davy.

Janine says the highlight of the annual three-day show, which opens today, will be renowned professional chef Peter Blakeway.

The Tauranga-based chef will host cooking demonstrations four times a day.

Peter has cooked at the exclusive Kilcamb Lodge in Scotland, featured on television fishing shows, advised top rugby players on diet requirements and is the regional ambassador for the promotion of avocados.

Peter, who owned Deli on Devonport and ran the PlentiCookschool in Tauranga, will demonstrate how to use local produce to prepare inexpensive and tasty dishes at home.

Among the fabulous giveaways on offer will be a $7000, 10-night South Pacific cruise for two adults embarking from Sydney.

Also up for grabs will be a $4500 HRV home ventilation system, $1000 security systems, and generous savings on home heating solutions.

There will be a large number of exhibitors stalls featuring a wide range of products, including lingerie and skincare products, kitchens, furniture, carpet, paint, property, gourmet food, wine, sweets and nuts, technology, interior and exterior design and luxury cars.

A Kids Zone, featuring a Giant Titanic slide, will keep youngsters entertained while the older family members wander through the show.

Last year, 11,500 people attended the show.
