J Boog When: Saturday, March 12
Where: Ngongotaha's Kalah Bar
It's not often an international musician and Ngongotaha are closely associated - but on Saturday night, they went hand in hand.
International reggae star J Boog performed the final concert his seven-gig North Island Sweet Summer Tour at Ngongotaha's Kalah Barbefore an enthusiastic, well-behaved sold-out crowd.
J Boog, who has dominated the airwaves with his hit Let's Do It Again, also featured on the track This Is Love by Monster, which spent 11 weeks on the New Zealand top 40 singles chart.
To warm up the crowd, Che Fu took to the stage with DJ Hazaduz performing popular tracks such as Chains, Fade Away and Machine Talker.
They were definitely a hit with the crowd and as the night went on more people started moving towards the dance floor.
Three Houses Down were next to take the stage and although not as popular as the first act, they kept the crowd entertained with a mix of original tracks and reggae covers.
But it was international star J Boog the reggae enthusiasts were there to see.
Once the man himself took the stage, fans who had been outside earlier in the night or in the front bar, headed into the main room, packing it out.
It didn't seem to matter that many people were unfamiliar with most of J Boog's songs - they were just there to have a good time.
However, J Boog tried to leave the stage before singing his most popular song Let's Do It Again but returned to perform the track.
Kalah Bar was packed and catered for the crowd well with plenty of space to move, a satisfactory sound system and plenty of staff on hand.
The concert brought a large number of people from Rotorua to the bar but there were also plenty of people from other parts of the Bay of Plenty such as Tauranga, Whakatane and Kawerau.
It was an enjoyable night.
